As expected, Trevor Bauer's sweepstakes have been full of backs-and-forths, deceiving messages, and trolling. Nothing new, if you consider he's made a living out of those kinds of things since he made it to the Majors.

Bauer is coming off a career year with the Cincinnati Reds and, unsurprisingly, has been a highly-coveted asset in the offseason. However, it's been hard to tell who's going to win the race to sign him, given that he's constantly teasing fans from all teams.

But, according to a report by MLB.com's Mark Freisand, the two most likely destinations for the reigning NL Cy Young are theLos Angeles Angels and New York Mets and they could reach an agreement rather sooner than later.

New York Mets, Los Angeles Angels Closing In On Trevor Bauer

“Mets team president Sandy Alderson made it clear early in the winter that he likes Bauer… even after signing Marcus Stroman, James McCann and Trevor May for a combined $75 million. As for the Angels, they have been the most logical landing spot for Trevor Bauer all along, and nothing that has happened this offseason has changed that. They have been in search of a No. 1 starter for years, trying to build a championship-level rotation to help Mike Trout get back to the postseason," Mark Freisand reported.

The Los Angeles Dodgers reportedly inquired about Bauer as well recently. However, the word around the league is that he'd have to take a one-year deal to sign with them rather than committing for the long-term and a lot of money.

Then again, it doesn't seem like the Los Angeles Dodgers would be willing or ready to outbid the New York Mets or Los Angeles Angels for his services, should they decide to make a strong push for the talented and controversial starter.
