Why are Phillies stars missing from the All-Star Game finalist list?

It may feel unfair, but it’s the truth—not a single Philadelphia Phillies player made the list of finalists for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game. While some were surprised, there’s a simple explanation behind it.

Not a single Philadelphia Phillies player made the list of finalists for the 2025 All-Star Game—an outcome that may come as a surprise, but it’s the reality. Neither Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, nor any other Phillies player earned enough votes to be among those advancing to the final round of fan voting, which is set for June 30.

While the list is filled with Dodgers and Yankees, the Phillies were completely shut out. The only player who came close was J.T. Realmuto, who finished third among catchers with 744,698 votes, trailing Carson Kelly and Will Smith.

Schwarber and Trea Turner certainly had a case to be included, but ultimately, it’s the fans who decide—and this time, the support just wasn’t there for the Phillies. At least last year, three Phillies players were selected.

Is it the fans’ fault the Phillies are out of the lineup?

It’s actually the fans who vote, and there wasn’t enough support with the votes. Last season, not only did Turner and Schwarber make it into the All-Star Game, but Bryce Harper was also present. The season was quite good for the Phillies, and that motivated fans to vote more.

Some fans reacted by saying it’s better this way so the players can rest more. “Waste of time. Don’t want anyone in the All-Star game or HR Derby. These guys need to use the break to figure out how to hit,” a fan wrote on X.

The list of finalists

Among the finalists are multiple Dodgers from the National League side, obviously being recent World Series winners also gives them a small push. It’s likely they will win most of the positions for the All-Star game.
