Why was Cade Horton’s start against the Brewers cut short after just 2 innings?

It's a tough blow for the Cubs, with Cade Horton's early exit from the game against the Milwaukee Brewers, in what was shaping up to be a good outing for him.

Cade Horton is considered one of the best pitchers since the All-Star break, and a strong outing was expected against the Milwaukee Brewers, but he had to leave the game much earlier than anticipated, without even completing three full innings.

His departure was difficult for fans to accept, as they wanted to start the home series with a win against the Brewers. After he left, the Brewers scored two more runs and took a considerable lead.

So far this season, Horton has worked a total of 16 games on the mound, giving the team seven wins in 10 decisions for a 3.07 ERA. It has been a very good first professional season for him, establishing him as one of the best in the rotation.

What Happened to Horton That Caused Him to Leave So Quickly?

His sudden departure from the game against the Brewers was due to a blister. Something as simple as that stopped him and prevented him from continuing. Up to that point, he had allowed just one run and four hits and had struck out three batters.

The Cubs are now losing their second-best pitcher in the rotation behind Shota Imanaga’s 3.06 ERA. It is unknown when Horton will pitch again.

August had been a good month for Horton with three consecutive wins, one against the Orioles, another against the Reds, and the most recent against the Blue Jays. The first two were at home, which made him a favorite to win a home game once again.
