The NBA community is living a couple of crazy hours during the 2020 NBA draft. Anthony Edwards was the first overall selection of the night but that hasn’t been the only big story of the big event.

James Wiseman was selected with the second overall pick by the Golden State Warriors and right behind the big man, LaMelo Ball’s name was called by commissioner Adam Silver. Ball was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets, owned by Michael Jordan, which opens a lot of options for the GOAT.

As soon as they learned that Ball was headed to Charlotte, NBA fans went crazy over the possibility of watching Michael Jordan taking on LaVar Ball in a one-on-one game. Ball has been known for having a big mouth and not even MJ was safe from that.

LaVar Ball calls out Michael Jordan

Two years ago, Ball claimed that during his best days, Jordan wouldn’t have anything to do against him, stating that he ‘would kill’ the six-time NBA champion if they played a pickup game, both in their primes.

“Back in my heyday, I would kill Michael Jordan one-on-one. I would just back (Jordan) in and lift him off the ground and call a foul every time he fouls me when I do a jump hook to the right or the left. He cannot stop me one-on-one. He better make every shot ’cause he can’t go around me. He’s not fast enough.”

Memes and reactions to Michael Jordan’s possibility of facing LaVar Ball in a one-on-one game

Now that LaMelo will be playing for the Hornets, LaVar and Michael will have to see each other more often than the Ball family patriarch would have wanted. Of course, NBA fans are hyped with this and they didn’t hesitate to show their excitement for this on Twitter.

MJ replied to Ball after his controversial takes, reminding everybody that LaVar was a terrible player in college who had nothing against His Airness.

“You got to understand the source. I think he played college, maybe? He averaged 2.2 points a game. Really? It doesn’t deserve a response, but I’ma give it to you because you asked the question. I don’t think he could beat me if I was one-legged.”

Now they will have the chance to see each other and the interactions (if there is any) will be memorable for us.
