The Minnesota Timberwolves are enjoying a historic run as they aim to reach the NBA Finals for the first time ever, facing off against the Oklahoma City Thunder. “He is the first person who said ‘I don’t wanna be the face of the league,’ who is the face of the league,” Wade said on his podcast Time Out, referring to Edwards. “You are a role model, whether you wanna be or not, you are a role model.”
The three-time NBA champion with the Heat immediately highlighted a moment that impressed him about the Ant-Man’s behavior this season with Minnesota, when he made an offensive gesture toward officials that resulted in a $50,000 fine.
“I love something that I saw the other day… He took own of the mistake as a young man, making a young mistake. He’s like, ‘I got kids watching me, I got parents who allowed their kids to watch me that support me, I can’t do that,’” Dwyane explained.
Dwyane Wade praised Anthony Edwards.
“He owned up to it, ‘I’m young, I made a mistake and I won’t do it again.’ That’s why, to me, he is the face of the game: He’s not perfect, and he don’t wanna be perfect,” Wade added. “That’s the world we live in, none of us is perfect. But to be able to make mistakes and own it, and man up to it, and then you see growth…”
