Ever since he made it to the NBA in 2003, LeBron James has made a name for himself for being an outspoken leader for the African American community. From his philanthropic work and the āI Promiseā school, The King has always voiced his concerns regarding social injustice issues in the United States.
Now, Draymond Green ā who happens to be represented by the same agent and agency that LeBron ā is also trying to take a step forward in speaking out on his political and social views, constantly calling out President Donald Trump.
Both LeBron and Green have made the headlines latelyfor theirstance regarding the BLM movement and the racial inequity in the United States, with Draymond calling Trump a āmaster manipulatorā and James threatening to sit out the remainder of the NBA season in the wake of the shooting of Jacob Blake.
Former NBA Player Calls Out LeBron James And Draymond Green
Green went on record on CNN to speak about the importance of spreading awareness and getting people registered to vote. However, former Sacramento King Royce White believes his stand is hypocritical, as he should be in the trenches with protestors rather than just talking on national television:
āHeās mistaken, heās off the path with that. This is not about awareness campaigns anymore. Report to the front lines. If you canāt report to the front lines, then send aid,ā White said, as per NBC Sports.
White went on to add that LeBronās antics in the bubble in Orlando arenāt enough. He dared him to join his people in Ohio and protest side by side with them rather than just threatening to boycott the NBA season:
āGo to Akron Ohio. March with the people. Stay there until something really changes, and If they choose to be all the way violent, let your body be laying in the street when itās over,ā the forward concluded.
NBA players agreed to come back to play as long as they could continue to express their concerns about social issues in the United States. Theyāre trying to inspire change and make the most of their platform but for some itāll never be enough.
