The NBA community and the entire world are waiting in line to see what’s going to happen with Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future. Right now, we don’t know for a fact what he’s going to decide about his contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Greek Freak is eligible to sign the largest contract extension in the history of the Association. And even though he’s stated that he’s eager to build a winning culture in Milwaukee, some people believe he’s getting ready to pack his bags and leave.

Also, the fact that he’s yet to commit and sign that supermax contract extension has raised some doubts regarding his true intentions. Naturally, the media was all over him during the Bucks’ first couple of practices to try and get an answer out of him.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Says He’s Not Thinking About His Contract

But in pure Giannis Antetokounmpo fashion, the reigning MVP and Defensive Player of the Year shook off those questions and didn’t actually gave an answer. If anything, he only made things blurrier:

“Right now, I am not focused on that. I am just trying to focus on myself. (…) I’m not going to lie to you, I’m not the type of player that talks to his agent five times a week. (…) Obviously, I care about it (the contract). It’s a very big decision. One of the biggest decisions I’m going to make,” Giannis told the media.

Obviously, that doesn’t mean that Giannis is intending to leave the Milwaukee Bucks. If anything, he could be putting more pressure on the front office and coaching staff to prove to him that they have what it takes to compete at the highest level.

The Bucks have dominated their way through the regular season in back-to-back years but have underperformed when it mattered the most. That’s why there’s likely to be some frustration from the Greek Freak and why he wants to take his time before making a career-defining decision.

Should Giannis decide that he’s poised to leave, the Bucks must find him a trade partner right away instead of risking losing him for nothing. For now, it seems like we’ll just have to wait and see how this pans out.
