James Harden is the man of the hour around theNBA right now but not for the best reasons. It’s clear that he’s eager to leave the Houston Rockets as soon as possible but he’s totally mishandling his situation.

Harden is still under contract for the next three seasons but wants to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets. That’s why he decided to skip practice two days in a row to attendparties and gentleman’s clubs, even though the league issued a ban on such events for the upcoming season.

Needless to say, that has taken a toll on Harden’s already doubted public persona, and most fans are questioning whether he actually cares about basketball or not. That’s why his mother Monja Willis took to Instagram to have his back amid these troubling times.

James Harden Mom Defends Him On Instagram

“(I’m) not sure who you are. But I have raised my son to be caring and giving young business man that he has become. He has his own decisions and I’m very proud of him for that. Now as far as his job you clearly don’t understand what’s really going on. That’s ok. You know if people had there own life and not try to make decisions for others we would really be a better world. His decision in life, because this is his life and legacy has nothing to do with you. He is doing the best for his career. Please pay attention and understand. He has worked hard every the suited up for his job giving 210%. He ask for a chance to get a ring that’s it. Anyone in there right mind in this busy would want that. So if he lost you as a fan. You weren’t the right fan from the start. Blessing to you son,” Willis replied to a heckling fan.

While it makes sense for a mother to stand up for his son, all her arguments are pretty far from the truth. For starters, only one in thousands of hoopers makes it to the NBA, soyes, you’re supposed to give 210% every time you’re out there. That’s standard business.

Second, Harden has had plenty of chances of winning an NBA championship with the Houston Rockets. They gave him Dwight Howard, they gave him Chris Paul, they gave him Russell Westbrook, and they surrounded him with multiple cores perfectly suited for his expertise. He just didn’t deliver.

Also, the Rockets are paying him an average salary of $42.7 million per year. That’s to do a job when he’s called upon, not just when he wants to do it. He’s still under contract through the 2023 season and therefore he must honor that deal.

The Houston Rockets are in no obligation – or rush – to trade him whatsoever as they’ll do what’s best for the organization. So if he wants to get out of there, he’s not helping his case by letting everybody know just how badly he wants to be traded.

I mean, why would another teamrisk that much for a guy that wants out? They’re just going to keep on lowballing the Rockets, and that’s just going to force him to stay with the team even longer. His actions right now are only tarnishing his already doubted legacy rather than prove that he wants to compete at the highest level.
