The New York Knicks sealed their place in the 2024–25 NBA Eastern Conference Finals after a dominant win over the Boston Celtics in Game 6, taking the series 4–2. Karl-Anthony Towns delivered a standout performance throughout the series, emerging as a critical piece in New York’s postseason run.
Following the victory, Towns took a moment to reflect on the people who shaped his journey to this point. In an emotional message, he paid tribute to those who supported him long before he reached the NBA spotlight.
“For the brothers that were with me Saturdays at Gauchos Gym, Sundays at Rucker Park, to my Dominicans… Washington Heights… they sacrificed… to let me work on my game… AAU… I dedicate this to them,” Towns said. “They prepared me to be a Knick. I don’t know if I’d have this moment without them.”
Though Towns made his name in Minnesota, playing alongside stars like Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert, his role in New York has evolved. Since arriving at Madison Square Garden, he has been a go-to option in the frontcourt, sharing playmaking duties with Knicks leader Jalen Brunson.
Meanwhile, Josh Hart made franchise history with a triple-double in the decisive Game 6 against Celtics. He posted 10 points, 11 assists, and 11 rebounds in just 33 minutes, becoming only the third player in Knicks history to achieve the feat in a playoff game.

Prior to Hart, only Dick McGuire (1952) and Walt “Clyde” Frazier—who did it four times between 1970 and 1972—had ever recorded a triple-double in the postseason for the Knicks. Hart’s performance ended a 53-year drought for the franchise in that statistical category.
Hart was a consistent contributor throughout the NBA series, averaging 14.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. His all-around presence proved to be the perfect complement to stars Brunson and Towns, providing impact on both ends of the floor.
