The Brooklyn Nets managed to do something that most people only thought to be possible in video games. Not only did they signKevin Durant and Kyrie Irving last offseason to shake up the entire NBA, but also they traded for James Harden this season. Now, they have arguably the most talented offensive trio to ever live and a historically dominant offense. On the downside, though, they've been also terrible when it comes to getting stops, a trend that must change if they intend to make it to the NBA Finals and win their first-ever ring.

Clearly, there's no shortage of talent in the Brooklyn Nets right now. Then again, they seem a ways away from being a legit contender because of their porous defense and how much they struggle to close out games.

Those issues were once again in full display last night when they hosted the Los Angeles Clippers. They jumped to a double-digit lead late in the game but ended up taking home a close 124-120 win after giving up several easy baskets late in the game.

Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant React To Nets' Struggles To Close Out Games

That's why Kyrie Irving didn't hesitate to show his frustration with his team's defensive effort once again. Following the win, Uncle Drew claimed that "so many teams are hitting shots against them" and that they need to finish games strong.

Kevin Durant, on the other hand, added that - even though they continue to struggle to close out games - the Clippers deserved a lot of credit for the shots they knocked down and believed that they're starting to get better in the defensive end.

The Brooklyn Nets hold the best offensive rating (122.6) in the league - and NBA history - since trading for James Harden. Nonetheless, they also hold the worst defensive rating (119.9) in the NBA - and in league history - since pulling off that move. Clearly, they're still a work in progress.
