Lakers HC JJ Redick makes blunt admission after their loss vs Nuggets

Speaking on Spectrum SportsNet, Redick acknowledged several areas of concern, particularly their early struggles on the defensive end. “…Our transition defense was pretty bad from the first six minutes on. And then fighting back and taking a lead. There’s a lot we could’ve done better but the group competed tonight and gave ourselves a chance to win,” stated Redick.

Despite the disappointing outcome, Redick affirmed having found positives in the team’s resilience and effort. The Lakers managed to battle back after a shaky start, showing determination and grit against one of the league’s top teams. Lakers’ lack of consistency on the defensive end remained a concern, especially during transition plays that the Bucks capitalized on throughout the night.

Redick also praised the performances of role players who stepped up when called upon. “The spirit was great. I think it’s been that and will continue to be that. I think it was a good opportunity for a number of guys to play bigger minutes. Shake (Milton), in particular, Christian (Koloko) defensively in the second half was awesome. Happy for those guys that they played well,” added Redick.

The Lakers’ recent progress has not been enough to improve their NBA standing. Their defensive unit continues to struggle. Opponents have repeatedly exposed their weaknesses in transition.
