There are a lot of huge egos in the NBA, especially among the top scorers in the league. And, as most fans may already know by now,not many people have a bigger ego than Kyrie Irving, especially when it comes to LeBron James.
Kyrie has often been a subject of controversies. And whenever LeBron James is in the mix, he feels like he needs to step up for some reason. It was like that when they shared the court forthe Cleveland Cavaliers and itās only gotten worse ever since he left.
Most recently, the Brooklyn Netsā All-Star point guard seemingly took a shot at James while lauding Kevin Durant, claiming that this would be the first time that he could trust a teammate to knock down a big shot.
Kyrie Irving Takes A Huge Shot At LeBron James
āI felt like I was the best option on every team Iāve played for down the stretch. This is the first time in my career where I can be like āthat motherf*cker can make that shot too,ā Irving said on The ETCs.
Durant and Irving havenāt played a single minute of NBA basketball together, although they did share the court for Team USA. Even so, thereās just no way on earth that it wasnāt a shot towards LeBron James.
LeBron James Says Heās Not Jealous Of Anthony Davis
The King didnāt hesitate to throw a light jab of his own towards Irving way, claiming that the reason why heās been able to dominate so well next to Anthony Davis is that theyāre not jealous of each other.
āWeāre not jealous of each other. We know who we are. We know what weāre about, and want the best ā seriously, every single day ā for one another,ā The King said ahead of Game 2 of the NBA Finals.
For those who lack context, Kyrie Irving won just 35% of his games before LeBron James went back to Cleveland. He was nowhere near even playing a playoff game before LeBron and Kevin Love helped him make 3 straight Finals.
Irving then forced a move out of the Cavaliers allegedly because he wanted to be āthe manā but his leadership style didnāt suit well for the Boston Celtics as he threw his teammate under the bus repeatedly.
Thereās absolutely no denying Kyrie Irvingās talents and yes, probably Kevin Durant is the best offensive player to ever live but it seems like throwing shade at the guy who made you a winner is way out of line.
