The Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler pulled off what most people thought was impossible before the start of the season. They ended up on top of the Eastern Conference and are back to the NBA Finals for the first time since LeBron James left the team in 2014.

Miami swept the Indiana Pacers in the first round, thentook down the team with the best record in the league in the Milwaukee Bucks and followed that with an impressive 6-game win over the Boston Celtics.

Butler has been the leader of the team on and off the court. He was called out, called a toxic teammate, and a locker room cancer. Now, the biggest underdogs of the season have a huge shot at a ring.

The Heat have a strong core of hardnosed fighters who mesh perfectly. They don’t mind doing the dirty job, there’s no ego, no I, just a never-ending grit and determination to leave it all on the hardwood.

Butler Knew He’d Have To Get Past LeBron James

The former Bull acknowledged that he was aware of the fact that he had to go through LeBron James if he ever wanted to win an NBA Championship, considering he’s made it to 9 Finals in the past 10 years:

ā€œIt’s been like this for a very long time: If you want to win, you’ll have to go through a LeBron James-led team. That’s what it normally comes down to, you’re going to get the same test over and over until you pass it. And that test is LeBron James,ā€ Butler said.

Now, coach Erik Spoelstra will have to draw up a plan to stop the very same player he helped win his first two NBA Championships. Basketball fans all over the world will be in for a treat, for sure.
