The Golden State Warriors remain the only team in the NBA yet to make any significant moves this offseason. That’s particularly notable for a franchise aiming to compete at the highest level during what could be the final stretch of Stephen Curry’s career. Recently, the Bay Area superstar weighed in on the team’s slow offseason.
So far, the only confirmed departure has been Kevon Looney, who signed with the New Orleans Pelicans as a free agent. While reports suggest that Al Horford and De’Anthony Melton may be joining the Warriors, nothing has been finalized. For now, the roster remains largely unchanged.
One complication the Warriors face this offseason involves Jonathan Kuminga, whose contract situation must be resolved before the team can make additional moves. The 22-year-old forward is reportedly seeking a $30 million annual deal, which the Warriors are unwilling to offer—but they also don’t want to let him leave for less than his market value.
Amid this backdrop, Curry spoke about the franchise’s current state during Warriors training camp. The four-time NBA champion acknowledged the lack of roster changes but expressed confidence in the core group built during the latter part of last season and the playoffs.

“It’s different, for sure, but my confidence is built on the identity we were able to create over the last third of the regular season last year and the playoff journey. We have a really good team,” Curry told reporters, according to Sam Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle.

However, Curry also noted the need for new pieces to help elevate the team’s performance. “We need some pieces to help get us to the next level,” he said. The two-time NBA MVP also addressed the stalled Kuminga situation. Curry emphasized that the team’s veteran leadership would help them navigate the uncertainty and that he expects progress before training camp.
“The veteran presence that we have — me, Jimmy [Butler], Draymond [Green] — we understand how to prepare through that uncertainty and hit the ground running in training camp knowing we should have some movement by then. But you control what you can control,” Curry concluded.
