The Golden State Warriors have remained relatively quiet this offseason, with no major acquisitions made to date. However, with Stephen Curry nearing the latter stages of his legendary career, the organization appears intent on building a more competitive roster to make one final push for another NBA title.
According to Bleacher Reportâs Jake Fischer, Golden State is showing interest in veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon, a free agent most recently with the Washington Wizards. Brogdon, who won NBA Rookie of the Year in 2017, is drawing interest from multiple teams.
Earlier speculation linked Brogdon with a potential return to the Milwaukee Bucks, but the teamâs recent signing of Cole Anthony has likely closed that door. That leaves the Warriors among several contenders looking to land the veteran guard.
âFor Malcolm BrogdonâI donât think Milwaukee is still a landing spot for him, especially after they brought in Cole Anthony on a buyout from Memphis,â Fischer said. âBut teams like Sacramento, New Orleans, Minnesota, [and] Golden State ⊠still have plenty of interest in Brogdonâ.

Brogdonâs 2024â25 NBA season with the Wizards was cut short due to injury, limiting him to just 24 games. In that span, he averaged 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists, while shooting 43.3% from the field, 28.6% from three, and 88.0% from the free-throw line.

Though not often in the spotlight, Brogdon has consistently provided solid play throughout his career. In addition to his Rookie of the Year honors, he was named Sixth Man of the Year in 2023 while playing for the Boston Celtics. He has career averages of 15.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists across 463 NBA games, including stints with Milwaukee, Indiana, Boston, and Washington.
While Brogdonâs next destination remains uncertain, the Warriorsâ interest suggests theyâre eager to bring in a steady ball-handler and backcourt contributor to ease the burden on Curry.
With the Western Conference as competitive as ever, Golden State know that any hopes of contending will depend heavily on strengthening their depth â and Brogdon could be a key piece in that puzzle.
