The Minnesota Timberwolves are coming off a disappointing end to their season, falling just short of the NBA Finals. Despite an electric postseason from Anthony Edwards, it became clear that they need an extra spark to become true title contenders. That’s why the Timberwolves made a move that caught the attention of Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant.
Following ESPN’s Shams Charania’s report on Friday that Johnny Juzang has signed a one-year deal with the Timberwolves, Durant quickly reacted on social media. Tagging Juzang in his post, Durant wrote: “Let’s go @jsilky. The work will speak for itself.”
Juzang, who went undrafted in 2022, has spent the past three NBA seasons with the Utah Jazz. Last year, he averaged a career-high 8.9 points and 2.9 rebounds across 64 games — also a career best in appearances.
He also delivered efficient shooting numbers, hitting 42.9 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from beyond the arc. With that kind of production, Juzang now heads to Minnesota, where the Timberwolves are hoping to build on a playoff run that took them to the Western Conference Finals before losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games.

After parting ways with Nickeil Alexander-Walker earlier this summer, the Timberwolves are expected to slot Juzang in as a third option at shooting guard behind Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo. His versatility and scoring touch could make him a valuable piece off the bench.

The Timberwolves will continue to lean on their size and physicality — key strengths they displayed during the postseason. Big men Naz Reid and Julius Randle dominated the paint, while Edwards stepped up as a clutch scorer in crucial moments. Adding another shooter like Juzang only adds to their offensive potential.
Although the NBA has yet to release the official schedule for the 2025–26 season, as Western Conference rivals, the Rockets and Timberwolves are expected to meet several times — setting up a series of intriguing matchups between Durant and Minnesota’s reloaded roster.
