Ever since the Los Angeles Lakerstraded for Anthony Davis, fans speculated how many NBA championships he could win with LeBron James. So far, so good, as they went the distance and won the ring on their very first season playing with each other, so there’s reason to think that they could become the next dynasty for the purple and gold.

There’s why people don’t hesitate to compare this dominant duo with some others from the past, including Magic Johnson & Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and, obviously, Kobe Bryant & Shaquille O’Neal.

However, Shaq recently acknowledged in an interview with ESPN’sOhm Youngmisuk that it just doesn’t make any sense trying to compare these duos, as none of them will ever be like the other.

Shaquille O’Neal Says There Will Never Be Another Shaq And Kobe

ā€œThere will never be the next [Shaq and Kobe]. We don’t need them to catch up to us. Kobe and myself were not trying to catch Magic [Johnson] and Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar] (…) Kobe and I, [our] legacy will never be duplicated. Or imitated,ā€ O’Neal stated.

Shaq Says LeBron James And Anthony Davis Are Unique

ā€œWe don’t want to get into the situation where they can be the next us because there will never be a next us,ā€ Shaq added. ā€œMagic and Kareem can never be us. We could never be Magic and Kareem. And we can never be LeBron and AD,ā€ he concluded.

Coming from a Lakers’ legend and a guy that’s never been known for being humble, that’s gotta mean a lot. Kobe and he won 3 straight NBA championships and most people think that they could’ve won at least 6 if they hadn’t broken up due to their personalities.

Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar won 5 rings together and both LeBron and Davis could try and replicate that success, although it will be easier said than done in today’s revamped NBA.
