The New Orleans Pelicans pose the biggest threat to the Golden State Warriors and their desire to clinch a spot in the NBA’s play-in tournament for a playoff berth. They met last night for the first of three games between them.

Sadly for NOLA, the Warriors were on a roll from the jump ball last night, sealing their ‘Arena of Heroes’ night performance with an emphatic 123-108 win over Stan Van Gundy’s up-and-coming squad.

However, Zion Williamson was once again a bright spot for the Pelicans, leading the team and trying to orchestrate a comeback late in the game, and impressing two-time MVP Stephen Curry with how offensively dominant he was.

Stephen Curry Says Zion Williamson Is A Unique Specimen

“There’s not really a way to take everything away from him because he’s such a unique physical guy that does things nobody else can really do physically. It seems like he’s got an endless motor for most of the game (…) he’s definitely an amazing talent. There’s not anybody like him, I don’t think offensively, the Warriors superstar told ClutchPoints after the game.

This was the first time that Stephen Curry and Zion Williamson played each other in the regular season, as Steph missed most of last year with an injury and so did the first-overall pick of last year’s Draft.

Last night, Zion scored a team-high 32 points on 50% shooting to go along with 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 assist; while Curry went bonkers again with 41 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, 8 three-pointers, and 1 steal.

Now, the Warriors leapfrogged to the 8th spot in the Western Conference and control their own destiny towards the end of the season, but Zion would definitely love to play spoiler and get that final spot in the play-in tournament.
