The Buffalo Bills and the Chicago Bears will clash on a preseason game. However, if you want to see some NFL stars like Caleb Williams and Josh Allen, hereâs what you need to know as far as if they will suit up and play.
For Caleb Williams, he will play for the first time under Ben Johnson against an opposing football team. All eyes will be on him as much has been said about Johnsonâs playbook.
While it would be good if Williams goes out there and ball, what itâs important for Caleb is to be able to read defenses right, have good huddle ups and control the tempo of the offense. Avoid any major penalties and hope it is silky smooth, thatâs what Williams should aim for.
What about Josh Allen?
While Williams playing in preseason is a must given the new coach and playbook, Josh Allen is an established figure in the NFL. So much so, he is the reigning MVP. His availability is still up in the air as Sean McDermott, Bills head coach, didnât commit to a clarifying response.

Josh Allen #17 of the Buffalo Bills scrambles for a touchdown during the fourth quarter against the Arizona Cardinals at Highmark Stadium on September 08, 2024 in Orchard Park, New York.
The coach said Allen has input on whether he plays or not. âIâm giving him some ownership as well, which I think is important,â McDermott told the media. âHe knows by now what he needs in order to be ready,â McDermott said.

Will other starters play?
The Bills sent much of their healthy starters on their first game except for Allen and running back James Cook, who was in the middle of a contract dispute. Cookâs issue is now settled. So he might even get some snaps now.
As for Chicago, most of its starters will play for at least a couple of offensive series. In fact, if there is a team that needs its starters to play in preseason games is the Bears.
