Rashee Rice has made public his first official statement after a judge in Dallas County issued his sentence. Through his lawyer, the star wide receiver of the Kansas City Chiefs accepted the verdict.
“Last March, I was involved in a high-speed accident in Dallas. There have been a lot of sleepless nights thinking about the damages that my actions caused, and I will continue working within my means to make sure that everyone impacted will be made whole. I urge everyone to mind the speed limit, drive safe and drive smart. Last and certainly not least, I am profoundly sorry for the physical damages to person and property. I fully apologize for the harm I caused to innocent drivers and their families.”
The NFL can now suspend the player, in a move that would significantly weaken the Chiefs ahead of the 2025 season. Rice is a key piece for Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes in their quest to return to the Super Bowl.
What happened with Rashee Rice?
On March 30, Rashee Rice was involved in a serious multi-vehicle crash on the North Central Expressway in Dallas, Texas. According to authorities, the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver was driving at an alarming speed of 119 miles per hour when the collision occurred.
Rice was behind the wheel of one of two high-end vehicles that were reportedly racing at the time, the other driven by SMU football player Theodore Knox. The reckless driving resulted in a violent crash that left seven people injured and caused significant property damage.

Now, a judge in Dallas County handed down a sentence for Rice, ordering five years of probation along with 30 days of jail time that can be served at any point during that probation period. As a consequence, a suspension is imminent as the NFL is already reviewing the case.
