It goes without saying that former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has taken multiple steps in the pursuit of social equality, even giving up on his NFL career and constantly speaking up on the issues that concern him the most.

Kaepernick fueled countless protests around the sports community after he knelt during the national anthem to call out police brutality. Four years later, he still continues to advocate for the athlete’s right to protest.

That’s why it didn’t strike as a surprise when he took it to his Twitter account to slam the American system once again following the Grand Jury’s decision to not charge any of the three officials involved in Breonna Taylor’s killing of murder.

Colin Kaepernick Demands Police Abolition

“The white supremacist institution of policing that stole Breonna Taylor’s life from us must be abolished for the safety and well being of our people.#BreonnaTaylor #SayHerName #AbolishThePolice,” Kaepernick tweeted.

Even though Kaepernick has reportedly drawn zero interest from NFL teams un a potential signing, he’s still got a lot of leverage among players, who’re likely to engage in any kind of protest in Week 3 of the 2020 NFL season.

Many players claim that the National Football Association is blackballing Kaepernick and refuse to give him a chance out of his political stance and not because he’s unable to lead an NFL offense even after 4 years out of the league.

Whether that’s the truth or not, he’s vowed to continue voicing his views and advocating for the African American community and other minorities the same way he’s been doing it since 2016.

And, considering we’ve already seen multiple boycotts in sports recently, we shouldn’t be surprised if some teams refuse to play this Sunday in the aftermath of the Grand Jury’s decision like it happened with the Milwaukee Bucks and Jacob Blake’s shooting.
