Tua Tagovailoa’s Miami Dolphins are aiming to finally establish themselves as true Super Bowl contenders after several years of falling short, and there’s a sense that this could be the season. However, Mike McDaniel and his team might be forced to move forward without one of their key players — a situation the head coach prefers to approach by focusing on those who will be available.
There’s been plenty of talk in recent weeks surrounding Jalen Ramsey’s situation and his potential departure from the South Florida franchise. While the cornerback has yet to make a final decision, the Dolphins are not counting on having him available for the upcoming stretch.
“I mean, quite honestly, zero has changed since the last time I said anything about him,” McDaniel said in his Wednesday press conference.
“Very much interested in the players that I’m coaching on the field today. And I think if you have a team that’s focused on getting better each and every day, that’s plenty for me to worry about. And I guess I’ll leave it at that.”

Jalen Ramsey #5 of the Miami Dolphins takes the field during player introductions prior to a game against the Dallas Cowboys at Hard Rock Stadium on December 24, 2023 in Miami Gardens, Florida. The Dolphins defeated the Cowboys 22-20.
“I’m really worried about the team, the players that will be out on the field today,” he also added. “And that’s about as much breath as I want to speak into it.”

Focusing on what’s ahead for the Dolphins
In the NFL, there are situations that, at times, seem to reach a point of no return. The one involving the Dolphins and Jalen Ramsey might be just that — even though his departure from the team has yet to be officially confirmed.
Mike McDaniel will once again be in charge of leading this team from the sideline, and when asked by the media, he made it clear that his focus will be on preparing for what’s ahead rather than spending energy on outside matters.
“I’m very excited to coach a football team, and that’s not dismissing, but quite honestly, everything is an opportunity cost,” the HC said. “So, I think it is quite honestly, irresponsible for me to put down some of the thoughts and focus on the players that we’re working now to build a performance for the season and concern myself with that. That’s where I should be, I think.”
