The Baltimore Ravensâ hopes of reaching the Super Bowl were dashed after a close loss to the Bills, and from that point on, the focus quickly shifted to improving the campaign for the following season. In light of this, John Harbaugh added a former NFL head coach to his staff, who returned from retirement for a new shot at redemption in the league.
After being away from the field for the past five years, the experienced Chuck Pagano is making his return to coaching, joining Harbaughâs staff as senior secondary coach. The news was confirmed by NFL insider Tom Pelissero.
âLongtime NFL coach Chuck Pagano is coming out of retirement to join the #Ravens as their senior secondary coach, per sources. Itâs a reunion with John Harbaugh, who hired Pagano to his first staff in 2008. Seventeen years later, Pagano â now 64 years old â is back in Baltimore,â Pelissero stated via @TomPelissero.
Pagano previously had a stint with the Ravens between 2008 and 2011. During that time, the former Indianapolis Colts head coach served as the secondary coach and later as the defensive coordinator.

Chuck Paganoâs experience in the NFL
Paganoâs arrival to Baltimore brings a much-needed dose of experience to the teamâs defense. As head coach, his tenure with the Colts ended with strong numbers: with Andrew Luck as the centerpiece, his time with the team resulted in 53 wins and 43 losses, reaching the playoffs three times.
His time with the Ravens as defensive coordinator will help Pagano enhance a department that faced issues at times throughout the season. Without a doubt, his arrival has been a great addition to Harbaughâs staff.
