After months of speculation, cornerback Jalen Ramsey finally got traded. On Monday, the player himself announced his move to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he’ll team up with Aaron Rodgers under Mike Tomlin after spending time with the Miami Dolphins.
Even though the NFL media immediately reacted to the news with more details about the trade, Ramsey only needed four words to let the football community know about the next step in his career.
“Break my own news!,” Ramsey wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) along with a video of himself training edited with clips of the Steelers, following his message with the hashtag #HereWeGo and mentioning the Steelers’ official account.
A stronger defense for Tomlin, Steelers
This is the second big addition the Steelers make at cornerback, having previously landed Darius Slay this offseason. The room already included Joey Porter Jr., so it’s safe to say Tomlin doesn’t need to worrry about this position.
Ramsey’s arrival also further strengthens a powerful defense in Pittsburgh, where Tomlin counts on the likes of T.J. Watt and Cameron Heyward in a group of players that also include Derrick Harmon, Keeanu Benton, and Alex Highsmith, among others.

Signings that put Rodgers in position to succeed in Pittsburgh
The Steelers have been busy this offseason making high-profile signings. Their patience on Rodgers paid off, with the star quarterback now locked in to try and bring back glory days to the Steel City.
And while the addition of Ramsey may not impact his unit directly, a strong defense always benefits a quarterback, as it allows the offense to do its job more easily. As for signings that directly affect Rodgers, the Steelers added star wideout DK Metcalf this year. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how this team performs in the 2025 NFL season.
