Jalen Ramsey’s destination for the upcoming NFL season has taken shape. The veteran defender will be moving to the AFC North, joining Mike Tomlin’s Pittsburgh Steelers. With this move, the Miami Dolphins lose another captain as they look ahead to the future.
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, who announced via his official X account (formerly Twitter), the former Rams player joins three other captains who will no longer be under Mike McDaniel’s leadership. They are Terron Armstead, Calais Campbell, and David Long Jr.
“Jalen Ramsey is now the fourth Dolphins captain from last season no longer on the team in 2025, joining Terron Armstead, Calais Campbell, and David Long Jr.,” the insider reported via @AdamSchefter.
Ramsey and the Dolphins were at the center of one of the offseason’s most talked-about sagas, and finally, the veteran cornerback’s desire to leave South Florida became a reality. He now has a new opportunity in his career to join a Super Bowl contender.

And it’s no surprise—after all, the former Dolphins star is now joining forces with none other than Aaron Rodgers, another major acquisition pulled off by Mike Tomlin’s team ahead of the upcoming season.
It’s well known that the AFC North is one of the most balanced and competitive divisions in the league—and in Steel City, they have no intention of being just another team along for the ride. From now on, the goal is clear: win the division and, why not, dream of lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
The departure of several captains
Jalen Ramsey’s departure from the Dolphins marked the end of an era for four of the team’s most recent captains from last season. With the star cornerback heading to the Steelers, the question now is: what happened to the other three?
Terron Armstead, a veteran of countless NFL battles, announced his retirement from professional football on April 5. Talented defensive end Calais Campbell will now suit up for the Arizona Cardinals. And last but not least, David Long Jr. has made stops with several teams around the league, finishing last season with the Tennessee Titans.
