According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, who announced via his official X account (formerly Twitter), the former Rams player joins three other captains who will no longer be under Mike McDaniel’s leadership. They are Terron Armstead, Calais Campbell, and David Long Jr.

“Jalen Ramsey is now the fourth Dolphins captain from last season no longer on the team in 2025, joining Terron Armstead, Calais Campbell, and David Long Jr.,” the insider reported via @AdamSchefter.

It’s well known that the AFC North is one of the most balanced and competitive divisions in the league—and in Steel City, they have no intention of being just another team along for the ride. From now on, the goal is clear: win the division and, why not, dream of lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

The departure of several captains

Jalen Ramsey’s departure from the Dolphins marked the end of an era for four of the team’s most recent captains from last season. With the star cornerback heading to the Steelers, the question now is: what happened to the other three?

Terron Armstead, a veteran of countless NFL battles, announced his retirement from professional football on April 5. Talented defensive end Calais Campbell will now suit up for the Arizona Cardinals. And last but not least, David Long Jr. has made stops with several teams around the league, finishing last season with the Tennessee Titans.
