It’s been many years since the Carolina Panthers were among the NFL’s top contenders. That’s why this season, the franchise is placing a big bet on what Bryce Young can bring to the table, hoping he can lead a true campaign. Many around the organization are dreaming — why not — of making it back to the Super Bowl.
It won’t be an easy task for Dave Canales’ team to return to the spotlight, given recent struggles—not just statistically, but in terms of overall performance. However, the roster remains confident that they can make a statement starting in Week 1.
The NFC South is more competitive than ever, thanks to recent moves made not only by Carolina but also by their main divisional rivals. It will all come down to how the first few weeks of the season unfold to truly understand what these Panthers are capable of this year.
Primary goal: Super Bowl
Chuba Hubbard arrived in the NFL in 2021, and since then, he and his teammates have struggled to establish themselves as a tough team to face. Despite recent setbacks, the talented running back told the media that this is the year they can finally make some noise.

Chuba Hubbard #30 of the Carolina Panthers celebrates after defeating the Arizona Cardinals 36-30 at Bank of America Stadium on December 22, 2024 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“If the goal isn’t to make the playoffs and win a Super Bowl, you’re selling yourself short. So that’s always been the goal. That’s the goal this year. And I think we’re the closest we’ve ever been,” he told Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer.

“I think guys are finally sick of being the same ol’, same ol’ Carolina Panthers,” he also added. “I think we want to get back to what they did here in the past, in 2015 [when the Panthers went to the Super Bowl] and some of those other years when they had deep playoff runs and had the crowd involved and the city hyped up. We haven’t had that.”
Can the Panthers be title contenders?
The Carolina Panthers head into the new season with renewed hope and a clear direction: Bryce Young will take the reins as QB1, looking to make a major leap in his third year. After a recent challenging campaign, the former No. 1 pick now has a stronger supporting cast and a full offseason to grow into the leader Carolina needs under center.
Head coach Dave Canales enters what could be a make-or-break year. With expectations rising, he must prove he can lead this team to meaningful wins and turn potential into performance. One of the boldest moves from the front office was drafting wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, a high-upside talent expected to bring explosiveness to the offense.
Competing in a tightly contested NFC South, the Panthers will need to be sharp from Week 1. With the Saints, Buccaneers, and Falcons all aiming to take control of the division, Carolina must rise to the occasion and show it can not only keep up — but take the lead.
