George Pickens has joined the Dallas Cowboys for the 2025 NFL season. Now, Tony Romo has sent Dak Prescott a pressuring message about the expectations surrounding the team heading into the new campaign.
The Cowboys have struggled to meet expectations in recent years. Despite having stars like Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons, the team has yet to achieve significant success.
Many fans believed the offense needed a boost this offseason. The front office delivered by trading for George Pickens, who is expected to add more firepower to an already talented offensive unit.

Dak Prescott warns rest of the NFL about George Pickens after Steelers’ decision to trade star wide receiver to Cowboys
After the 2025 NFL Draft, Jones reached an agreement with the Pittsburgh Steelers to acquire George Pickens. The AFC North team was looking to move on from the wide receiver, and Dallas emerged as a fitting landing spot.
Last season, the Cowboys struggled with a lack of a reliable WR2, which led to a heavy workload for CeeDee Lamb. Eventually, the star wideout suffered an injury due to the high volume of targets he received throughout the year.
Now, with Pickens on the roster, Lamb is expected to get more freedom, which could help elevate his production. Tony Romo supports that idea, believing the trade for Pickens is a crucial move for the Cowboys’ hopes of success in 2025.

“That’s a big trade. Having him [Pickens] and CeeDee together is a game changer,” Romo said during a U.S. Open qualifier event, via Law Nation Sports. “If you remember when they had Amari [Cooper] earlier and CeeDee Lamb together, it makes it very difficult to focus on one player when you have two kind of superstars out there. I feel like when you have two guys like that, it just opens up the offense quite a bit. I think the Cowboys did a great job this offseason. Kudos to the Joneses and what they did. They needed to make up ground on the rest of the [NFC East] division, and they did. Extensive [ground].”
