The Miami Dolphins continue with the goal of strengthening their quarterback room, led by star Tua Tagovailoa. Last season was troublesome for him, as a concussion sidelined him for much of the campaign. In line with this, the franchise has made moves in the NFL Draft.

It’s clear that Tagovailoa will remain the team’s starting quarterback. Both general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel have expressed their confidence in him. Nevertheless, the draft is an excellent opportunity to strengthen the roster.

The Dolphins will have three quarterbacks on their roster for the 2025 season. In addition to Tagovailoa and Zach Wilson, another promising star has joined the roster on a low contract in the NFL Draft. Miami is looking to add stability and depth at a key position.

New QB for the Tagovailoa’s Dolphins

The new quarterback for the Dolphins is none other than Quinn Ewers, who was selected by Miami in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft with pick 231. The former Texas Longhorns quarterback finished last season with 3,472 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

There was anticipation surrounding Ewers’ selection, in fact, his fall in the draft was a surprise as he was expected to be picked in earlier rounds. By being selected by the Dolphins, Ewers joins a team with an established quarterback roster, where he’ll compete for a spot alongside Tagovailoa.

Not only has Ewers joined the Dolphins. In March, Miami also signed Zach Wilson, the former first-round pick of the New York Jets, to a one-year contract. While he was inactive last season, Wilson is expected to provide depth to the quarterback room.
