The 2025 NFL season is shaping up to be a crucial one for the Arizona Cardinals. The NFC West team is aiming for a breakout year, and in an effort to strengthen its offense, the club has signed a former Aaron Rodgers teammate to support Kyler Murray.
In recent years, the Cardinals have made significant investments to build a competitive roster. Unfortunately, those efforts have yet to pay off, and the team has remained far from being a serious contender.
Kyler Murray is still considered the key piece in Arizona’s hopes for success. However, with limited progress in recent seasons, pressure is mounting, and this could be his final opportunity to prove he’s the franchise quarterback.
Cardinals add former Aaron Rodgers target to bolster offense
The Cardinals need to see clear improvement from Kyler Murray in 2025. Despite signing him to a lucrative contract extension, the quarterback has yet to deliver performances that justify the investment.
While Murray has shown flashes of his talent, the team believes it’s not enough. That’s why the front office is continuing to surround him with more offensive talent—and one of the latest additions could provide valuable experience.

On Tuesday, the Cardinals announced the signing of tight end Josiah Deguara for the upcoming season. He joins a growing group of playmakers in an offense that’s been retooled to help Murray thrive.
Deguara was selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. During his time in Green Bay, he caught passes from Aaron Rodgers and totaled 47 receptions for 436 yards and two touchdowns.
After leaving the Packers in 2024, Deguara spent last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In Arizona, he is expected to serve as a backup behind Trey McBride but will have to compete with Tip Reiman, Elijah Higgins, Travis Vokolek, and Oscar Cardenas for playing time.
