This story features two key figures and centers around the New York Giants — a team now led on the field by Russell Wilson, who is aiming to finally turn this historic franchise into a true title contender in the NFL.

On one hand, there’s the devastating injury suffered by Bryce Ford-Wheaton, who will miss the entire season for his team after tearing his Achilles just before kickoff. What was seen as a major setback was quickly addressed by the front office.

According to information shared by reporter Jordan Raanan, Brian Daboll’s team is re-signing WR/KR Gunner Olszewski, giving Wilson a new weapon to work with on offense.

“The Giants are re-signing WR/KR Gunner Olszewski, per source. Good returner was with the Giants each of the past two seasons. Move comes on the heels of losing receiver and special teamer Bryce Ford-Wheaton for the season with an Achilles tear,” the reporter said via @JordanRaanan.

The wide receiver entered the NFL in 2019 as an undrafted free agent, joining the New England Patriots. In 2022, he moved on to the Steelers, where he played just one season before landing in the Big Apple, where he has now been re-signed.

Can the Giants return to the spotlight?

The Giants made a bold push with the addition of Russell Wilson at quarterback, backed up by Jameis Winston. This move aims to immediately ignite their offense, hoping Wilson’s experience elevates Malik Nabers into a star receiver. The goal is clear: inject proven talent to boost their scoring.

Defensively, drafting Abdul Carter brings a much-needed jolt to the pass rush. His disruptive presence is expected to strengthen an already improving defense, creating a more balanced and formidable team.

Despite these significant upgrades, a Super Bowl run in 2025 is a long shot for the Giants. While Wilson and Nabers offer exciting potential, questions remain about overall roster depth and offensive line consistency. Leaping from a struggling record to championship contention in one season remains a very optimistic outlook.
