The Dallas Cowboys made the final decision to select offensive guard Tyler Booker from the University of Alabama with the 12th overall pick in the NFL Draft. The organization prioritized strengthening the offensive line following the retirement of veteran Zack Martin. Team owner Jerry Jones made his stance clear after the franchise’s selection.
Next season will also feature the return of quarterback Dak Prescott after a long injury that sidelined him for most of last year. The Cowboys’ star will now have Booker — a player known for his blocking strength and ability to dominate in short-yardage situations — protecting him up front.
Jones expressed excitement about adding Booker, highlighting his potential to strengthen the offensive line in key situations like the “tush push”, which is a quarterback sneak strategy effectively used by teams like the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jerry Jones’ message on Booker and the Tush Push
“Put him in there with that big Beebe and put him in with Tyler, and we might be able to tush push,” Jones said at the Cowboys’ post-first round press conference. The Dallas’ franchise owner mentioned that, along with other linemen like Tyler Smith and Cooper Beebe, Booker could be a key piece in successfully executing these types of plays.
