Thereâs no doubt that Saquon Barkley has been one of the standout performers for the Philadelphia Eagles this past NFL season, and both Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts will need to make the most of his presence while they can. Why? The star running back recently made an intriguing comment regarding what could lie ahead for his future.
Although the former Giants playerâand arguably one of the top running backs in recent yearsâstill has plenty to offer his team, he didnât rule out the possibility of retiring at some point in the near future.
His remarks came during a recent appearance on former Eagle Chris Longâs Green Light podcast, where Barkley admitted he might consider retiring earlier than many would expect.
âIâll probably be one of those guys that itâll be out of nowhere. Iâll probably just wake up one day, whether itâs next year or two years or four years, and just be like, âYeah, itâs over,ââ the Eagles RB said.

Barkley reveals who he considers the GOAT
Itâs well known that Barkley is one of the top running backs in the league in recent yearsâbut even elite players have their sources of inspiration. The former Giants star didnât hesitate when asked who, in his opinion, is the greatest player in NFL history.

âOne of my favorite players of all time, probably my favorite player of all time, is Barry Sanders, so probably similar to that. Maybe one day itâll be out of nowhere. Iâll probably be ballinâ and just be like, yeah, call it quits,â he said.
Although the Lions legend is widely regarded as one of the greatest running backs in history, Barkley hopes to one day match, in some way, the stats of his idol.
