Sam Darnold is coming off an impressive season with the Minnesota Vikings, a performance that earned him the opportunity to become the new starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. Looking ahead to whatâs next, the talented QB made it clear what his main goals are heading into the 2025 NFL season.
The bar is set high, and under head coach Mike Macdonald, the Seahawks aim to become legitimate title contenders. Darnold is confident in his abilities and those of his teammates, but emphasizes the importance of taking it one step at a time in order to achieve big things in this new chapter of his career.
âWhen people ask you about kind of what goals youâre setting, you have long-term goals, you have short-term goals,â the QB via DJ Siddiqi of Forbes. âI really stick with that mindset of just continuing to be the best that I can every single day. I feel like everything will kind of fall into place if I just continue to do that. Itâs tough, because in this business, everything is driven on results.
âDo you get wins? Do you throw for touchdowns? Youâre trying not to throw interceptions,â added Darnold. âAll these stats that people look at, at the end of the day, you just do everything that you can every day to be the best person, best player you can be, and everything else will kind of just fall into place from there. Thatâs really how I look at it.â

The reasons behind Darnoldâs decision to join the Seahawks
After a standout year in the NFC North, speculation swirled around Sam Darnoldâs future in the NFL. Ultimately, following several rounds of negotiations, the former Jets and 49ers quarterback chose to take his talents to Seattle.
In a recent conversation with the media, Darnold himself revealed one of the key reasons behind his decision â the opportunity to reunite with offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.
âKlint, obviously a blue collar man, heâs very easy going,â the talented quarterback stated. âI was with him obviously in 2023 with the Niners. Itâs a system that Iâm pretty aware of. I have some experience in it a couple years ago. That was obviously a draw.â
