Trevor Lawrence will once again be in charge of leading the Jacksonville Jaguars’ offense, and many believe this could be the breakout season for the former Clemson star. He won’t be alone, as he’ll have key playmakers alongside him — and one of them has sent a clear message to new head coach Liam Coen ahead of the upcoming NFL season.
Since entering the league back in 2023, Brenton Strange has slowly developed into one of Lawrence’s potential weapons when it comes to executing plays throughout the game. While the tight end knows exactly what he can bring to the offense at his position, he’s also willing to contribute in any other way if needed — and won’t hesitate to do so.
In a recent interview with team writer John Oehser on the O-Zone Podcast, the former Penn State Nittany Lions standout expressed his strong desire to keep developing — even if it doesn’t mean scoring touchdowns.
“I think I have room to grow for sure,” he said. “And I have room everywhere. That’s not just as a receiver. That’s being a blocker, being a leader on this team, I have so much more room to grow. I’m excited for that. It’s gonna be challenging, but I’m up for the challenge. I know I’m capable.”

Trevor Lawrence #16 and Brenton Strange #85 of the Jacksonville Jaguars celebrate a touchdown during the third quarter against the Indianapolis Colts at EverBank Stadium on October 15, 2023 in Jacksonville, Florida.
“I want to be a complete tight end, and at the end of the day it’s just like imposing your will,” Strange also added. “When you’re blocking, like go out there and impose your will over somebody and you do it over and over again, they’re going to break down eventually. It’s one of my favorite parts, just being a complete tight end and being asked to do everything.”

Strange’s resilience with the Jaguars
Brenton Strange’s journey since entering the NFL hasn’t exactly been a walk in the park, but he knows he now has a great opportunity to become a key target for Trevor Lawrence in the offense heading into the upcoming season.
“It was frustrating at times, but you just have to tell yourself, ‘It’s all part of the process,'” the Jaguars TE firmly stated. “Everything’s a process. Everything that you do, you have to grow through. You have to learn. … I feel like everything I’ve done in my life has prepared me for this moment right here. I’m excited for it. I’m ready to go. It’s a blessing.”
The standout storyline for this team heading into the upcoming season will be the impressive amount of talent Lawrence will have at his disposal starting in Week 1. Alongside Brenton Strange, the offense features Thomas Jr. and newly acquired Travis Hunter, who is expected to be used as a wide receiver by head coach Liam Coen.
