Brad Marchand has yet to make his debut for the Florida Panthers following the blockbuster trade that brought the former Boston Bruins star to Paul Maurice’s team for the 2024-25 NHL season. The defending Stanley Cup champions have now confirmed when they will be able to utilize the 36-year-old veteran.

Marchand’s injury occurred while playing for the Bruins in a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 1, when he had to be helped off the ice. Initially, he was considered “week-to-week” due to an upper-body injury.

Despite Marchand’s injury, the Panthers decided to acquire him, trusting in his recovery ahead of the league playoffs. The veteran forward has been able to practice since early March, but now the Florida franchise, through Maurice, has provided the latest update.

Marchand’s addition is considered a significant boost for the Panthers, especially at this crucial point in the season. His experience and offensive skills are highly valued, and he is expected to provide leadership and strong performances on the ice.

Paul Maurice’s statement on Marchand

“He has already recovered. We expect him to play. He has had an incredible career and he’s a Stanley Cup champion who has played over 1,000 games, and has racked up countless points. I don’t want to see it all in just one game,” Maurice said after Friday’s morning practice.
