Despite being linked to multiple NHL teams, the KHL, and even remaining unsigned in mid-August, Roslovic continues to draw speculation. Leafs Morning Take reports that the player’s uncertain status has generated a lot of buzz — but not all of it is positive.

“What now for Jack Roslovic? Obviously a good player, but this has been the story of his entire career. Like you start to wonder and have questions that Carolina, one of the premier teams in the league, why didn’t they want Jack Roslovic? Why hasn’t anybody bid? It’s August 13th,” commentators noted.

Could Roslovic be a wild card for the Maple Leafs?

While Roslovic could add secondary scoring and provide lineup flexibility, there are doubts about whether his production will match expectations. Leafs Morning Take warns that signing him may be more of a gamble than a guaranteed upgrade:

“There is actually probably more likelihood that it doesn’t work than it does. The expectation would be okay, he’s a guy who can fit into maybe your second line; likely the third line, the most positive, optimistic outcome is he’s an impact player. But that’s kind of the same vibe I just keep getting… .” The discussion points to the risk of integrating a player who may not consistently deliver at the level required, despite flashes of offensive skill.

Is Toronto taking a do-or-die gamble with Roslovic?

Roslovic could benefit from chemistry with stars like Auston Matthews or John Tavares, but past performance suggests the Maple Leafs cannot rely solely on potential. He has had only two 20-goal seasons, averaging 9.6 goals in other campaigns, and defensive lapses could further complicate his contribution.

For a potential $3-million+ deal, Roslovic must produce offensively to justify the investment. If the move succeeds, Toronto secures a bargain forward. If not, it could mark another misstep in the team’s roster management under Brad Treliving.
