Real Madrid and Barcelona clinched victories in their La Liga 2020-2021 games this weekend to climb positions in the table. Although they are not at the top of the table after the first three games of the competition, they both have matches to play from previous rounds.

Real Madrid put a stop to La Liga leaders Real Betis on Saturday, in an exciting match that finished with a 3-2 victory for the team coached by Zinedine Zidane. It was the first win for the defending champions this season after two games, as the team had begun their campaign with a scoreless draw with Real Sociedad.

Everyone was waiting for the debut of Barcelona after the Lionel Messi saga and the departure of Luis Suarez. New manager Ronald Koeman displayed an offensive team with the six-time Ballon d’Or winner alongsidePhilippe Coutinho, Ansu Fati and Antoine Griezmann in attack. Barsa clinched a convincing 4-0 victory over Villarreal to start the La Liga season with the right foot.

Meanwhile, Luis Suárez had a dream debut with Atlético de Madrid. The Uruguay international scored twice and had an assist after coming from the bench in the team’s outstanding 6-1 win over Granada.
