Ecuador vs Peru: Storylines

Ecuador and Peru have faced each other for the World Cup Qualifiers at the city of Quito seven times. The record is four victories for the locals, two draws and a only win for the Peruvians. It certainly won’t be easy for the visitors, who also have the high altitud of the city (2.850 meters) against them.

If Peru wants to get some hope, they have to look back to the last World Cup Qualifiers for Russia 2018. The team, also with Ricardo Gareca as the coach, got its first win in Quito 2-1. The scorers were Edison Flores and Paolo Hurtado. These two players weren’t called to play with the national team for this matchday.

Ecuador hasn’t lost on home soil in this tournament. Alfaro’s side prevailed against Uruguay and  Colombia, with an impressive 6-1 win over the Cafeteros. They certainly will want to keep it that way this Tuesday.
