Augsburg clashed off with Borussia Dortmund in the second round of the 2020-21 Bundesliga season on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at 09:30 AM (ET). The matchup turned out to have a disappointing result for the away side as Augsburg continue their dream start of the season.
Throughout the entire game, 2019-20 Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund were the better side, attacking and pushing to score. They had 71% ball-possession, compared to Augsburg's 29%. However, we all know that in football, possession doesn't win games, goals do. And that's exactly where Augsburg step up.
All it took was Felix Uduokhai's slight head-touch to deflect Daniel Caliguiri's free-kick and the ball was suddenly inside Dortmund goalkeeper's net. The away side kept on trying thanks to vast efforts from Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho, Giovanni Reyna, and Jude Bellingham, but to no avail.
Then, during the 54th minute, it was Daniel Caliguiri himself who got to have his name on the scoresheet after Borussia's defence totally failed to mark him. In spite of BVB's constant pressing, that proved to be the final goal of the match.
