FC Barcelona and Real Madrid played one of the most exciting matches of the LaLiga season. The game featured seven goals and constant action. As usual, Hansi Flick’s team played in a wide-open contest that thrilled fans. Kylian Mbappe stood out with a hat trick that showcased his scoring talent. Meanwhile, Raphinha added a brace and continued his strong form. Their performances lit up the game and had a direct impact on the LaLiga scoring race.

Thanks to his three goals, Real Madrid star Kylian now leads the league with 27 goals. He surpassed Robert Lewandowski, who has 25. Even more impressive, Mbappe achieved this in his first season with the club. Raphinha also made a big move in the standings. His two goals brought him to 18 for the season. As a result, the Brazilian is now tied with Ante Budimir as the league’s third-highest scorer.

This season has been brilliant for both stars. On the one hand, Raphinha is having a breakout season with FC Barcelona. He has already scored 34 goals across all competitions, a personal best. Moreover, he plays a crucial role in the team’s buildup. The Brazilian has also provided 25 assists, proving his value beyond just scoring. As a result, he has firmly established himself as one of the team’s top offensive leaders.

On the other hand, Kylian Mbappe has made a strong statement in his first year with Real Madrid. Although he started the season slowly, he quickly found his form. Since then, he has become the team’s top scorer in LaLiga. So far, he has scored 39 goals in all competitions. This number already surpasses Cristiano Ronaldo’s 35-goal total from his debut season. Therefore, his impact at the Bernabeu has been both immediate and historic.

2025 Ballon d’Or contenders: Can Kylian Mbappe or Raphinha win the award?

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo no longer play in Europe’s top leagues. Because of that, new stars are leading this generation. After Messi’s last Ballon d’Or, Manchester City’s Rodrigo Hernandez won the first award in this new era. However, this year, the trophy could go to a different player. Raphinha and Kylian Mbappe have both delivered strong performances. Therefore, some fans wonder if either can win the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

Even though both had impressive seasons, they are not considered top favorites for the award. Their teams were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League. Because of this, the favorite to win, according to Goal, is French forward Ousmane Dembele. He has been Paris Saint-Germain’s most outstanding player during their run to the final. If PSG win the title, Dembele will have a strong chance to earn the Ballon d’Or.
