Lautaro Martínez has been continuously on the radar of other European teams ever since he rose to stardom with Inter Milan. This season, the 23-year-old played a key role to help the Neroazurri lifting the Serie A trophy for the first time in eleven years. His performances caught the attention of the continent once again, and according to reports, his agent has met with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid to discuss the possibility of a move.

The Argentine sensation was reportedly close to joining Barcelona the last summer, but despite the Cules' serious interest in the player, they were unable to afford the transfer. Even Lautaro stated that the rumors were true, but he wasn't desperate to leave Italy, though.

Almost one year later, it seems like he hasn't changed his mind. Just a few weeks ago, reports linked him with potential interest from three Premier League sides, but the striker then confirmed he wasn't planning on leaving San Siro. However, his representatives' meetings with the two Madrid giants indicate otherwise.

Lautaro Martínez's agent met with Real Madrid and Atletico amid Inter's need to sell

Like in any transfer window, the fascinating center-forward will probably have countless teams behind him in the next couple of months. Even though he is apparently at ease in Milan and the club recognizes him as one of the best players in the squad, Inter's financial situation is far from being good and they might need to give away one of their most expensive stars.

According to Marca, Lautaro Martínez's agent Alejandro Camano held talks with both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid last week. With the Argentine as one of the world's most coveted No. 9s, his representatives might be starting to prepare for a possible move while the Italian champions need to adjust their economy.

Los Blancos weren't linked with Martínez so far, as he was targeted by lifelong rivals Barcelona instead, but given the complicated scenario to bring Erling Haaland in (Borussia Dortmund aren't willing to sell him easily), Inter's figure could be an option to strengthen their attack.

Meanwhile, the Colchoneros might have been monitoring the 23-year-old for a long time as compatriot Diego Simeone knew him way before he moved to Europe when he featured for Racing Club in Argentina. Luis Suárez's option to finish his contract this summer could force the club to eye a replacement, and Lautaro looks like a great candidate.

Martínez has scored 19 goals and provided eleven assists in 48 appearances in 2020-2021. His current market value is $77 million, according to TransferMarkt. In normal times, Inter wouldn't be keen on selling him, but given their tough financial circumstances, they wouldn't dismiss it.
