The United States started their campaign at the Gold Cup 2021 with a 1-0 win over Haiti thanks to the goal from Sam Vines eight minutes into the first half. This win put the United States in the second place of Group B, after Canada won 4-1 over Martinique.

Greg Berhalter surprised with the lineup without Daryl Dike and Gianluca Busio, but both ended up playing in the second half. Instead, Berhalter decided to go with Gyasi Zardes from start. Also, Shaq Moore took the right back because Reggie Cannon suffered an injury before the match, and did a pretty good job.
