Lamine Yamal scored a great goal to open the scoring for Barcelona at the 53th minute mark against Espanyol in 0-2 win that clinched them La Liga title. He also assisted Fermin Lopez for the second goal on extra time.
It’s the first time this season that Yamal, who comes from scoring against Real Madrid in El Clasico, has scored in two consecutive matches. Currently, Yamal adds 17 goals and 24 assists in the season across all competitions.
The 17-year-old received the ball from Dani Olmo, then cut inside from the left and with a stunning right-footed shot found the back of the net. It was a fitting goal for a player who has been key for his team’s successes.
This season, Barcelona, under Hansi Flick, clinched La Liga, Copa del Rey and the Spanish Supercup. They also had their best Champions League campaign in six years, reaching the semifinals since the 2018-2019 campaign. However, they were defeated by Inter Milan in an incredible series, which ended 7-6 on aggregate.
In another record, Barcelona also ended the season defeating Real Madrid in all the four matches they played this season, which is an unprecedent record, and showcased their dominance this season.
