Lionel Messi continues his red-hot form for Inter Miami, adding more goals to his scoring streak and putting his team ahead against the New England Revolution in Matchday 23 of the MLS season.

The Argentine capitalized on a defensive miscue by the Revolution, pouncing on a loose ball inside the box and calmly finishing to give Inter Miami the first goal of the match.

The second goal came after a brilliant assist from Sergio Busquets — reminiscent of their days together at Barcelona — as the Spanish midfielder delivered a perfectly timed pass that left Messi one-on-one with Aljaz Ivacic. The Argentine made no mistake, calmly slotting home to extend Inter Miami’s lead.

Messi sets new MLS record

Just days after turning 38, Lionel Messi continues to prove that age is only a number. With his brace against the New England Revolution, the Argentine legend became the first player in MLS history to score multiple goals in four consecutive matches.

Messi’s red-hot streak began before Inter Miami’s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, when the Herons routed CF Montreal 4-2, with Messi stealing the show scoring two goals. He followed that with another dominant performance, scoring twice in a 5-2 win over Columbus Crew.

Although the Club World Cup temporarily paused Inter Miami’s MLS campaign, Messi picked up right where he left off. On Sunday, July 6, he bagged another brace in a 4-1 victory over CF Montreal, and now he’s done it again versus New England — continuing one of the most impressive scoring runs in league history.
