Arsenal have been eliminated from the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League after losing 2-1 to PSG in their second leg match in Paris (3-1 on aggregate). The Gunners were aiming to reach their first Champions League final since 2006, which could have put them on the doors to add a historic title.
In that sense, Arsenalâs most recent trophy came in August 2023, when they won the FA Community Shield. The Gunners defeated Manchester City in a penalty shootout after a 1â1 draw in regulation time.
During the match, Leandro Trossard scored in stoppage time when his shot bounced off a defender and went into the net, canceling out Cole Palmerâs earlier goal. Arsenal went on to win 4â1 on penalties at Wembley Stadium. It was the clubâs 17th Community Shield title.
Before that, Arsenalâs last major domestic trophy was the FA Cup in the 2019â20 season. Under Mikel Arteta, who had taken over midway through the campaign, Arsenal beat Chelsea 2â1 in the final thanks to a brace from captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. That victory marked the clubâs 14th FA Cup title, the most in the competitionâs history.
