Baptiste made her WTA Tour debut at the 2019 Washington Open, where she upset former top-10 player Madison Keys. She played her first Grand Slam at the 2020 US Open and reached her first WTA 1000 third round at the 2023 Guadalajara Open, defeating Karolína Plíšková in the process.

In 2024, she entered the top 100 for the first time after a win at Indian Wells. That year, she recorded her first top-10 win by defeating Barbora Krejcikova at the Wuhan Open as a qualifier ranked No. 102. In 2025, she advanced to the fourth round of the French Open and the third round of Wimbledon, pushing her to a career-high ranking of No. 48 in singles. Baptiste has also won one WTA Tour doubles title and two WTA Challenger doubles titles.

Hailey Baptiste is currently coached by Eric Hechtman, who is former coach of Venus Williams, and Franklin Tiafoe, brother of ATP star Frances. Earlier in her career, she was coached by Peter Lucassen at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
