With the retirement of Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz seems poised to carry on Spain’s success on the ATP Tour. The 21-year-old star has already won four Grand Slam titles and reached World No. 1. But how does he compare to Nadal in terms of prize money so far?
When it comes to career earnings, Nadal, who retired in 2024, ranks second all-time, behind only Novak Djokovic. Nadal captured 92 ATP titles, including 22 Grand Slams. According to official ATP records, the Spaniard earned a total of $134.9 million in prize money.
It’s an impressive figure that also includes his earnings from doubles. Nadal won 11 doubles titles during his career. Alongside Roger Federer, he also played a key role in pushing for prize money increases, particularly during his second term on the ATP Player Council.

Alcaraz, who turned pro in 2018, has earned $39,194,113 in prize money from singles and doubles to date. He has won four major titles and five Masters 1000 titles in singles. This season alone, he has collected $1,339,136 so far.

In 2025, after falling to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open quarterfinals, Alcaraz had a strong run at the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam, capturing his first indoor hardcourt title and becoming the first Spaniard to win the event.
He later made his debut at the Qatar Open, where he was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Jiri Lehecka in three sets. Alcaraz entered Indian Wells as the two-time defending champion and reached the semifinals, but was upset by eventual champion Jack Draper.

The loss ended a 16-match winning streak at the tournament and marked his first ATP loss past the quarterfinals in over a year. His struggles continued in Miami, where he was knocked out in the second round by David Goffin. However, he is poised to be one of the players to watch during the clay season.
What about endorsements?
Including endorsements, Nadal is the third highest-earning tennis player of all time, behind only Federer and Djokovic. Through deals with brands such as Nike, Santander, and Richard Mille, Nadal has earned an estimated $850 million over the course of his career.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz already boasts endorsement deals with major brands such as LVMH, Rolex, BMW, Babolat, Calvin Klein, and ISDIN sunscreen. According to Forbes, he earned $32 million in endorsements between August 2023 and August 2024.
