“It really hit me when the guys came over,” Pastrnak said. “It was so cool what they did for me, and to top it off with a win is great.” Pastrnak’s second goal of the night and his power-play tally later in the third period sealed the 5-3 victory for Boston.

Michael DiPietro has been around the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/boston-bruins" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bruins</a> for almost three years, yet still hasn’t made his NHL debut with Boston. To say the 26-year-old is in a race against the clock to impress Sturm and the Spoked B would be an understatement.



According to reports, DiPietro is the odd man out in the Bruins’ current three-headed goaltending room. Jeremy Swayman and Joonas Korpisalo are expected to headline the tandem between the pipes, leaving Boston at a complex situation with the former Vancouver Canucks’ draft selection.



“The Boston Bruins and goalie Michael DiPietro face an inevitable outcome,” as reported by Heavy. “The 26-year-old netminder will have to hit waivers at some point this season if the club sends him down to the AHL.”

“I think this week is gonna be one of the more interesting weeks on the waiver wire to see which goalies get there and when,” Elliotte Friedman commented on the 32 Thoughts Podcast. “There’s at least two goalies…do they get traded beforehand, Michael DiPietro and Clay Stevenson?”



<h2>Sooner or later</h2>



The Bruins might have second thoughts about placing DiPietro on waivers, as there’s a slim chance he actually clears them, and can be assigned to the AHL Providence Bruins. However, Boston should’ve though that earlier. 



DiPietro has been in the organization since October 2022, and hasn’t played once at TD Garden. It might be time for the Spoked B to move on. However, accepting a trade didn’t work out, and losing a still relatively young talent for nothing may be a pill too hard to swallow.

There is an alternative for Sturm and the Bruins, though. However, it involves parting ways with either Swayman or Korpisalo. Regardless, both goalies are secured for the foreseeable future.

It appears the cure would prove worse than the disease.

Pastrnak was careful to avoid overpromising on his knee’s condition. “Like I said, nothing too concerning. It’s just something that’s nagging me for a very long time,” he explained. He even adjusted his offseason workouts, favoring biking over running to reduce stress on the joint.

“I feel like I still have my best hockey in me. That’s something I’ve used this summer as extra motivation, to make sure I can come back to Boston and pick up right where I left off, making sure I continue to grow and even get better,” Lindholm added while speaking about his return to the ice.

Pastrnak’s comments only gives NHL fans yet another reason to highlight October 21 on their calendars. That’s when the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/florida-panthers">Panthers</a> will play the Bruins on the road, in what could be Marchand’s first game in Boston since the trade.



Even though the Cats played the Bruins at the TD Garden only four days after landing Marchand last season, the player didn’t suit up on that occasion as he was still coming back from injury.



<h2>Pastrnak not replacing Marchand as Bruins captain yet</h2>



In the event he plays that night, Marchand is expected to receive a warm welcome, even is he’s in another sweater. A franchise legend who won the Stanley Cup in 2011, Marchand’s exit left a huge hole in Boston.

Farinacci’s path began when he was selected in the third round of the 2019 draft by Arizona. He then spent the past two seasons on an entry-level contract, earning an average of $950,000 in the NHL and $83,000 in the AHL. According to reporter Conor Ryan, the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/boston-bruins">Bruins</a> only gave up a 2027 fifth round pick to acquire Arvidsson. The 32-year-old is expected in Boston shortly to acclimatize to the Beantown and get familiar with the team’s facilities.

<h2>Contract </h2>



Arvidsson is joining the Bruins ahead of the 2025-26 NHL season. This will be the final year of the two-year, $8M extension he had signed with the Oilers prior to the past campaign. Whether Boston will hand the veteran a new deal or let him play on a contract year remains to be seen.



Arvidsson’s current contract has an annual cap hit of $4M and it includes a no-movement clause. In order for the trade between Boston and Edmonton to go through, the former Oiler had to waive his NMC.

Pastrnak and the Bruins are getting an exciting veteran who can fill in almost any line and produce. The 32-year-old has appeared 613 games while recording 389 points.

After Marchand’s departure, the Bruins might be shaping up to head into the 2025-26 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nhl">NHL</a> season without a team captain. <h2>Pleasant surprise incoming?</h2>



Boston will be selecting with the seventh overall pick in the 2025 NHL entry Draft. If there’s any silver lining—though extremely thin—to the Bruins’ past season, it’s that. However, it won’t cheer up the crestfallen fans and players in Beantown.



Unless the unpredictable occurs. Once considered the frontrunner for the first overall selection, James Hagens has reportedly seen his draft stock take a hit. There’s consensus around the first two prospects expected to be taken off the board—but beyond that, anything goes. From the third pick onward, any selection could be just as easily justified as it could be criticized.
