The Boston Bruins are undergoing a rebuild ahead of the 2025–26 NHL season following the Brad Marchand era as the team’s star. Now rallying behind David Pastrnak, the franchise has brought in a new head coach, Marco Sturm, who recently added another important piece to his coaching staff.

The Bruins targeted Sturm after evaluating his strong performance as head coach of Team Germany, along with his experience as an assistant with the Los Angeles Kings, with the goal of revamping a project that needed identity and structure.

Pastrnak will now lead the offense and serve as the face of a young core following Marchand’s departure after more than a decade. The 37-year-old veteran left Boston to join the Florida Panthers, where he finally won the Stanley Cup after 14 seasons of coming up short. A new era has begun in Boston.
