In just a few months <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/soccer/report--barcelona-and-lewandowski-have-reached-an-agreement-what-would-the-strikers-salary-be-20220519-0013.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Barcelona</a>collapsed. The Spanish team lost its star player, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/soccer/messi-demands-changes-at-psg-for-the-upcoming-season-20220520-0002.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lionel Messi</a>, and announced a debt of 1.3 billion euros, according to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/soccer/joan-laporta-suggests-barcelona-wouldnt-sign-kylian-mbappe-even-if-they-had-the-money-20220517-0016.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joan Laporta</a>, the club’s president. Those situations put Barcelona in check.
With Messi’s departure to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/soccer/neither-manchester-city-nor-psg-the-top-5-most-valuable-soccer-clubs-in-the-world-20220518-0027.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PSG</a>, Barcelona are estimated to have lost millions of euros in commercial revenue, ticket sales, shirt sales, and merchandising. When La Liga calculates new salary limits for its clubs at the end of this month Barcelona will no longer find themselves in the negative. But despite that imminent piece of good news, there are still big challenges ahead.
Twice a year La Liga set salary limits for each club. There is a convoluted calculation that, subtracts projected spending on non-football costs from projected income. For example, if a club is going to make 100,000 euros but has to pay out 50,000 euros in debt repayments or pay non-soccer staff, then its salary limit is 50,000 euros. Losses from previous years also have to be factored in.
Barcelona’s limit was set at €97,000,000, but the club itself said that the previous board’s losses were not 228 million euros but 481 million euros. That was why La Liga set its salary cap at -144 million euros. After May, that figure will go back above zero. This means that Barcelona are already in a better position than last year and the club’s finances have tightened up a bit.
The number will no longer be negative because La Liga has changed the rules so that any losses related to the pandemic can now spread be spread across five years. The club’s sponsorship deal with Spotify for around €280m across five years also help. This does not mean that Barcelona are not still in debt.

In February, Barcelona said the wage bill had been cut by €159,000,000but that it was still 40 percent over and above rivals. Last year, then director general Ferran Reverter, wholeft the club, said finances would be sorted out in five years, so that would be 2026. But Barcelona do not have to wait until the years go by and nothing more.

Speaking in a news conference the Barcelona president was quick to remove the club from all wrongdoing, blaming tour companies, the ticket operator, and even supporters for selling their tickets.
“We didn’t sell tickets to German fans beyond the 5,000 away tickets. Sales from Germany weren’t allowed and there were many people trying to buy tickets from there. The system of control worked up to a point, but some organized groups were able to breach the mechanisms in place.”
Laporta continued, “We inherited the system from the previous board. We thought it could work but we have seen that for special games it doesn’t… Tickets will now be non-transferrable for non-domestic matches and high-risk games. We are working on other measures so that it does not happen again.”
In a shock move, given the political nature of the statement, Laporta blamed club members for the black-market sale of the tickets, “A group of members misused their season tickets, which they ceded to German fans… It is sad because we love this club, and it is hard to imagine season ticket holders giving their tickets to rival fans. But this happened and it will be subject to analysis.”
“There are around 7,000 members that purchased tickets with the discount code and [those tickets] ended up in German hands. We don’t want it to become a witch hunt, but there is a lot of disappointment and will look into possibly taking action. We have also detected malpractice from a tour operator, whose contract with the club has now been terminated.”

<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/soccer/barcelona-to-sell-2-players-to-register-ferran-torres-20220102-0010.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Barcelona</a> is handing their supporters vastly different points of view on their transfer situation. From what we all know, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/soccer/ralf-rangnick-wont-let-this-barcelona-target-go-during-this-transfer-window-20220102-0013.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Barcelona</a> cannot make significant player signings until they clear up salary space as per <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/soccer/laliga-15-flop-signings-in-the-spanish-league-20211105-0005.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">LaLiga</a> rules.
This has vastly impeded the Catalan club from making any significant signing in the last window, and has hand tied them at the start of this window as well. Now to make matters worse the fans are getting two different perspectives from the two principal figure heads who should be on the same page: <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/soccer/barcelona-xavi-reportedly-wants-to-shop-at-manchester-city-again-to-boost-defense-20211231-0015.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Xavi</a>, head coach and club president Joan Laporta.
On one side Xavi had stated in a press conference the difficulty the club has to register latest signing Ferran Torres, “We will see how the financial situation will develop, whether we will be able to register him immediately. There are some players who need to leave, but if Dembele agrees to a pay cut, Ferran will be able to be registered immediately. We hope that will happen. Ferran is a dream for every coach, he can adapt to all conditions, and he can play in all positions in the attack.”
<h2>Xavi and Laporta at odds with Barcelona’s transfer situation</h2>

A report from Goal stated that <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/soccer/transfer-rumors-xavi-looking-to-bring-in-alvaro-morata-to-barcelona-20211230-0001.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Barcelona</a> would need to sell at least two players to open up space for Ferran Torres, a worrying sign for Barcelona fans who basically need to give up 2 players for the price of one. Add to that what Xavi stated in the press that another player would need to take a pay cut just to register Torres.
If one reviews what President Joan Laporta said to the official website, it is a vastly different tune, “Everyone in the world should prepare, because we’re back as big players in the transfer market. Barça is back.”
Barcelona is reportedly trying to push big name signings such as Erling Haaland, but their “sure bet” winter signing of Edinson Cavani seems to have fallen through with Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick pushing for the Uruguayan to stay at Old Trafford.
